I don’t normally review children’s books, but I personally thought this one was spectacular enough to rate. It contains a variety of words that students may not know the meaning of and they can use strategies to decode these words. No eBook available Amazon. Easy level inferencing marggie. Unfortunately it is picture day and Oliver learns he has to off his hat and reveal his crazy hair. The wild voices and noises that I can use while reading this book are sure to keep students engaged and entertained.
This is the sort of book that anyone can connect to. And you cant wear a hat during picture day, so Oliver must take it off. They each try to tame his hair, but all of their attempts are futile. Feb 05, Oanh rated it really liked it Shelves: The illustrations is what made the book good to me.
Another more practical use for this book could be to show off some very colorful language, such as: Davis Limited preview – The cameraman is waiting, the vedhead is waiting, the teacher is waiting. Thought the illustrations aren’t bad, they’re not quite to my taste.
I read this book aloud to students 2nd grade and younger, maybe some a little older and they loved it as did I! Oliver reluctantly takes off his hat and to his surprise, his hair is not sticking out every which way!

Questions could be asked about how the students would feel if they had a bad hair day on picture day. Oh man I remember reading this book almost everyday when I was 8. Each of these features will help students learn to enhance palatinii own writing. I liked the use of all the similar bechead words and all the description that she put into each page.
